The Greater Minnesota Council of Churches (GMCC) created Minnesota FoodShare in 1982 as an initiative to combat hunger and food scarcity in the state. Each year the organization holds the Minnesota Foodshare March Campaign which is the largest grassroots food and funding drive in the state.
Last year’s March Campaign had over 300 food shelves and programs participate which were provided with over $18 million in funding among them in 2021. The campaign consists of events and drives created by the participating food banks and programs all throughout Minnesota. These participants are then eligible to receive additional funding throughout the year from the money raised by Minnesota Foodshare for their FoodFund during the March Campaign. Amazing organizations like GMCC and Minnesota FoodShare are sometimes the only way smaller food bank programs can survive and continue to serve their communities. Community Pathways is very excited to be able to participate in this year’s Minnesota Foodshare March Campaign starting with the Hometown Sampler at the Owatonna Little Theater.
